Finding Cheap Solar Panels

While the cost of these panels have come down over the years finding cheap solar panels is not an easy task. There is just not enough panels available out there to make it easy to find cheap ones.

One of the best ways to get something for a good price has always been to buy used. This is true of solar panels as well but they are a lot harder to find then most items. You have to be patient and keep an eye out for a deal to come along.

The problem here is that you also have to be fast. You are not the only one that is looking for a deal on panels. That means there is competition from other people wanting to buy them so it drives up the cost of the panel. A lot of times I have seen used panels sell for nearly what a new one would cost anyway.

You can also find blemished and factory damaged panels. Most of these are working panels that have some kind of cosmetic damage so they are being sold at a reduced price. These can be a great deal when you find them. They don't show up that often though.

Usually it is the cells themselves that get damaged and not an entire panel. There are plenty of blemished and damaged solar cells out there for a good price though. These are actually one of the best ways to get yourself a cheap solar panel. The only problem is this way takes a little work.

You can buy the blemished cells and solder them together yourself. Doing it this way you can make a panel for about two dollars a watt instead of seven or eight. You do have to have a little mechanical knowledge and there is a lot of soldering but it brings a panel into a range that we can actually afford.
