Question by Common Sense: Any suggestion for an energy efficient door for cats and a medium size dog?
My wife and I are considering installation an energy efficient door for pets to take advantage of 2010 tax credit for door/windows. We have been searching around but haven’t found one. I’m wondering if it does exist. THANKS for your answer.

I got a few of these energy saving devices (CFL’s) and when the power goes out I’d like to use the energy I saved for when the power goes out

My thermostat will start using the electric furnace if the target temperature is more than 2 degrees higher than the current temperature.

So,
Scenario 1: Set the temperature to 50 degrees during the day. Heat pump will barely work when temperature drops below 50. By 4:30, the electric furnace will run to bring temperature to 68 degrees then the heat pump will take over.
Scenario 2: Set the temperature to 66 degrees during the day. Heat pump will run almost all day to maintain 66 [...]

Question by lily: Are energy-efficient appliances tax deductible and if so, how do I count them?
Was told an energy efficient air conditioner I purchased this summer was tax deductible and that there was a big hype going on around that. However, in the tax guide I am using it only mentions roofing, windows, etc. What about appliances?
