Question by J P: Quickest (and least expensive)way to heat an above ground pool on a cool day? Solar Fish, Black Solar Heating?
Above Ground Pool. I am having a get together this weekend. The temp is going to drop into the mid 60's. I hate to deal with the plastic solar covers (and I don't think they work all that well). I would consider a black tube solar heating system but don't know how effective they are. Are there any chemicals that will do it? What about the solar fish that leaks [...]

What about the solar fish that leaks os Isopropyl Alcohol? I don't want to spend a ton...as I hope to get a heater next season

Best answer:

Answer by michael_54550
well, actually the best is to put the solar cover on and try to retain some of the heat in the pool...even if cloudy the rays of the sun still come thru and will generate some heat. But other choices are yours but they aren't going to help much, not like the cover will..

What do you think? Answer below!

www.WindEnergyGuide.net - Super Easy Wind Power Generator For Home Use Getting or building a wind power generator for home use is quickly becoming an attractive option for many environmentally conscious homeowners. Alternative energy sources are looking quite feasible in helping to alleviate both environmental damage and fuel shortage related to the use of fossil fuels. If we manage to develop these budding fields properly, we may eventually wean ourselves off of our reliance on coal, oil, and gas. This will not only stabilize our power generation, but also result in many benefits to the environment as we use renewable, green ways of making energy. Thus, the need for a wind power generator for home use. These electricity generators are becoming more and more commonplace as people install more of them both on large and small scales. They are machines that can convert the natural breeze-induced mechanical movements into electricity. Thus, they only need this force of nature to produce energy, which is free, essentially unlimited or renewable, and all natural. This basic concept of harnessing the energy all around us is what lies behind any good renewable energy source. Some background on the concept behind using a wind power generator for home use would be useful to have. Generators work by transforming physical motion, usually rotation, into electricity using strong permanent magnets. Turbines then work on the same essential principle, using natural flows to turn blades ...

Question by Meganator: Costly not to have an energy efficient fridge?
We just got a fridge from some friends, and it's an older fridge (20 years old). It's still in great condition, but the prev. owner said it just wasn't energy efficiant. We got it for free, so we're not too concerened, expecially since we can't afford a new one right now. Do you know how much a difference it will make in our electric bill? Right now, on average, ours is about $ 70 (because we're not using air or heat).
Sorry, I didn't mean that our bill is $ 70.00 with the fridge. We just picked it up tonight, and we haven't even used it yet. Our bill is currently $ 70.00 (for MID Modesto Irrigation districtn is what we use for air/heat). I just don't know how much it's going to go up.

Best answer:

Answer by wallyinsa
Can't give you exact figures but even an old fridge doesn't use
$ 70 a month. You've got something else going on too - water
heater, stove, lights. Energy efficient fridges WILL save money
over their lifetime but if you can't afford to buy one........
Set your thermostat to medium ( usually # 5 ) and keep the doors
closed as much as possible. Also - very important - check the
seal around the door - a lot of cool air can escape through there,
causing your fridge to run longer than necessary.
