Resistors, LEDs & light bulbs all use power. So how does an LED in an existing electrical circuit save energy when typically the circuit requires ballast resistors? Power = current x resistance. So if the Wattage is stepped down from 50w to 3watts, the current has increased with the extra resistance required. Surely the resistors are just using up the power that is saved by the LED? I am looking after my friends landscape. I never see the lights turn on now? Do I need to replace the batteries or do I need a new set of Solar lights? Are solar lights connected to an electric outlet? Where do I buy a solar battery charger ( hardware stroe, Walmart, Target?)? The top of the solar panel look dirty and old. Does it look like I need to replace the solar lights for them?

I just purchased a small statue from a catalog that is supposed to be solar lighted, It comes with an on off switch, I didnt turn the switch on, and when it got dark the statue didnt light up, the sun was out strong all day, Stupid question, but do i have to keep the on off switch on all day?
