I have a local store that is selling treadmills that came broken. All motors are guaranteed to work, it is just the stand, mat, or other items that are broken and costs too much to repair. I’m interested in these because I can get some treadmill motors really cheap to build wind turbines.

I have the name/models of the treadmills, so how can I search which motor they have without having to call/email the manufacturer? Is there a website for this?

I have a photo journal of my residential wind turbine project at http://www.mindchallenger.com/wind

There are a lot of photos and explainations in case anyone wants to make one. I was hoping I could get some comments, suggestions and feedback. I am hoping to get comments on: lightning protection and typical power production. I wouldn’t mind thoughts on my cedar-epoxy blades.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of trees in my area and cutting a few won’t solve the problem. However, I get some good wind in the winter.

I chose to make a wind turibne for our investigatory project. I am planning to follow the structure of the brushed DC motor for the generator part. In making the armature for the rotor part, should the armature touch the magnets and should it be connected to the part of the rotor that touches the brushes? Answering this question would be a really big help. Thanks.
