Answer by adavielI guess you mean solar thermal, for hot water ?
Probably depends where you live. Further north, with less sunshine, geothermal is going to win particularly if you live near hot rocks like Iceland.

Question by hairyrome: How do LED lights save energy when they typically have to be used in conjunction with a ballast resistor ?
Resistors, LEDs & light bulbs all use power. So how does an LED in an existing electrical circuit save energy when typically the circuit requires ballast resistors? Power = current x resistance. So if the Wattage is stepped down from 50w to 3watts, the current has increased with the extra resistance required. Surely the resistors are just using up the power that is saved by the LED? Maybe more so when using a light relay [...]
