Question by : DIY Home Wind Turbines plans, do they worth it?
Hi fellows,
I’ve been seeing some projects for DIY home turbines and produce my own power. Do you think this plans are worth it? I mean, will this produce enough power to maintain at least my TV and Computer?

How much petroleum do you think it takes to produce a wind turbine? (shipping parts, painting the structure, plastic parts, installation, manufacturing, shipping of raw materials for manufacturing, mining for the metals, transporting those mined metals, mining for the magnetic parts, shipping those magnetic parts, drilling for the petroleum used to make parts of the wind turbines in the first place, shipment of the drilling platforms, transportation of the petroleum from those platforms…? How much would ya guess?)

But it’s much easier to just buy an electric fan for $ 20.

This DIY wind turbine blade is hooked to a 180 Volt Leeson 3.8 Amp Permanent Magnet Electric Motor acting as a generator. Maximum voltage recorded at ground level was 27 volts. Maximum Watts produced was 43 watts.

how do i estimate the annual energy output of a 5kw wind turbine in an area which has a average wind speed of 7.4m/s at 10m above ground level, and the rated wind speed of the turbine is 10m/s. there is no buildins around to interfear with the wind and the hub of turbine is 12m above ground level. and could you show me the formula for this sum.
